SGA
by: Svati K. & Ben K.

The Brunswick Middle School Student Government Association will be holding student elections. Students from all 3 grades have been chosen to be candidates. They have entered into politics to become the following: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Delegate. Now it’s up to you to decide. They have signs, handouts, and more, so remember to take a look at them, and vote.

8th Grade SGA candidates info.:

Earlier this week we had the chance to send some of our interviewers to talk to the 8th grade candidates that are running for different positions in SGA.

The first candidate they interviewed was DJ B. He is running for president. He is running to try to make BMS a better place for staff and students. His campaign promises include trying to make rail passes worth something more, try to get extended recess for all grades, try to get the assigned seats at lunchtime removed, try to have more fundraisers, and give power to the students.

For vice president there are several candidates running. The first is Nick G. He is also trying to make the school a better place for staff and students. He hopes to bring about more fundraisers, DDR at dances, and try to get socials to cost less. He also is willing to take any student suggestions.

The second 8th grade vice presidential candidate is Justin P. He is running to try to make school fair, to change the new advisory program, and last but not least, for fun. He will try to get longer recess for all grades, get some fun fundraisers, more activities, with more to come in the future.

Running against them is Jim A. for vice president. He has said that an anonymous source told him that he is a big influence to the school. He doesn’t have any promises yet but there will definitely be more to come.

Jen D. is running for public relations. The reason that she is running is so she could be part of SGA. She will try to get public information out to students in a timely fashion.

Also, running for secretary is Madeline G. The reason she decided to run is because she wanted to try something new. She promises to keep things more organized.

Running for vice president and hoping to become president is Izzy P. She is running so she can share her ideas with the staff and students, and to change school policies. She promises to try to get longer lunch, get iPods allowed at lunch and recess, and get more important fundraisers.

Last, but not least, for the 8th grade vice president candidate and delegate is Preston D. He is running to try to make the school a better place, and to share his creative ideas. He promises to try to get longer recess, more uses out of rail passes, and more fundraisers. He will also try to improve dances, and promises to take in any student feedback. Lastly, he will try to have meetings to try to get these things done and will put those items into position by majority votes.

For now, this has been your student update for SGA
