Hey guys,

Thanks for the advice a couple months ago about high school. I've got a new problem. All of my friends have boyfriends or girlfriends and I don't! I just don't feel ready for a relationship. Is there something wrong with me? Am I a loser?

Dear Hitdog,
There is nothing wrong with you. You may just not be ready for the commitment of a relationship yet. The saying “just because your friends do it….” Come into play here. Just because your friends are dating does not mean that you have to. A lot of people are not dating. Many other people not dating feel as though it may just stress you out; at the middle school age people may want to date and have a relationship, but many confuse dating with hanging out with your best friend. Many friendships end because of it. So until you can decipher the difference between being in a relationship with someone that you like and being with your best friend, or even if you’re mentally ready for a relationship, maybe you should consider waiting.
