Sports: Gone Fishin'
by: Tyler B.
If you have been looking for a good fishing hole close to you besides the ponds, then you’re reading the right article. The C&O canal is a good place to go. You have the locks, some bike trails, and if you follow those trails you will find some areas with rapids which are great for catching catfish and bluegill. If you like bass fishing, go to the slower areas where you can see the bottom of the water. The only things you would have to watch out for are snakes. You could see rattle snakes, copper heads (both poisons snakes), or even just the black garden snake (harmless). There are even some American eel’s that will come on the line every once in a while.
Local Fisherman Justin Walls Says “That the Potomac river lock house 29 has been mostly too high to fish this season. But during the summer is the best because you can wade out to rocks in the river and have more of a range of catching fish.”
So with this knowledge of the local fishing scene, I wish you the best of luck in your fishing adventures!
