Editorial: School Lunch Table Rules-Good or Bad?

By: Svati K. and Knicki B.

Have you ever wanted to sit with some of your other friends during lunch, but you can’t because you’re assigned to a different table? Well we have heard many students around the school complaining about how they wanted to sit with one group of friends one day, and another group another day. We feel that it would be better if we could just choose where we wanted to sit every single day! Why should we go through all that trouble?

Well here’s your answer… we shouldn’t! Anonymous said “It’s not fair. We are old enough to make our own decisions!” Which they are absolutely correct! Teachers are always telling us to be more responsible, but how are we suppose to do that when we don’t even have a chance to make a change in where we sit. When we get older we are going to have to make our own decisions, so why not start now?

Some here at BMS say that the school lunch table rules are actually a good thing. This way, teachers don’t need to go walking around, and telling people to move if there are too many people at a table. Mrs. Keiling said “It’s more organized and easier to find students this way.” Also if you are having problems with some of your friends, you are allowed to change tables, just by asking.

What do you think? Comment about whether you think it’s good or bad. Nothing negative though, please. Thank you.

  2. i think that some of the rules, like assigned seats is unnecessary, but apparently the rules aren't going to change. i also think that lining up after lunch is unnecessary too.
