School News-A Commentary on School Closings
by: Ben K.
Now a lot of you might say, or think about school closings… I think that FCPS has a reasonable balance of planned school closings between months.
Take October for instance, we only have one school closing and one early dismissal. Now I don’t know about you but I think that that is a reasonable, or too little of school closings/ delays. But that’s just one writers opinion.
In November FCPS is closed five days in the whole month with two early dismissals. Now before some of your some of you freak out, three out of those five days are thanksgiving break. One of the other two is general election day, and the other one is a teacher workshop. Both of the early dismissal/ delay are parent teacher conferences which I’m sure that a lot of you parents like those two days and find them useful. Even though some of the students may not like the conferences, I’m sure they are much needed or wanted. Now that seems like to little closings to some of the student. But a reasonable amount or even to much for some people not in the FCPS system.
Now December is as far as I’m going to go for this article. December only has one early dismissal right before Winter break, which is from December 24th to December 31st.
I hope that this has helped, excited, or worried you about FCPS closings and delays to come.
