Interviews-Teacher Spotlight on Mr. Player
by: Ben K.
During the last two weeks one of our interviewers had the chance to interview Brunswick Middle’s own band director. Although most of you might not know him, you might have seen him recently at lunch for those of you attending BMS, for all county chorus.
Mr. Player has been teaching for 11 years. His first job was at T.J. Middle School as a chorus and band director. When BMS first opened and they had an opening for a band director he “jumped on it”. Now he is teaching just band part time here and part time at T.J. Middle.
He has said that he is very proud of all 3 grades bands. He said that their progress is very good, and he is very pleased. Now as some if you might know, even though most not, on October 22, 2010, the 8th grade band will be visiting and playing with the High School marching band, at the game. Mr. Player is very excited about this and is very pleased with how well the 8th grade band is doing with all the new music and marching standards. (Marching instruments, having to memorize music, using Lyres, and standing up/ marching while playing.)
The only additional comments that he told the interviewer was that Brunswick/ Brunswick Middle is awesome! That if you want to play an instrument, follow that and see about playing, and if you have been playing, keep playing; it’s never to late to start.
