Headlines: MSA is on the Way!
by: Julie H.
As you know, MSAs are coming up in March. Some people blow it off, thinking that it doesn’t matter. But it does. MSA is one of the things that decide on where you are placed. Honors, merit, advanced etc. But MSA also puts a lot of pressure on a kid. Some kids don’t usually do well on tests, and it ends up deciding their future years. NOT FAIR. The kid could have a 100% in the class, but if they bomb the MSA then they could be placed where they don’t belong. That could lead to them being bored and not getting as far as they should be going in their school career.
MSA has two categories, reading and math. If you are one of the 8th graders then you have to take reading, math, and science MSA. You can score in basic, proficient, and advanced. You want to aim for proficient or advanced, and you want to stay out of basic. The better you do on the MSA, the farther you go in your education and you will be placed in the right level.
If you bomb it:
• You can’t retake it
• It’s the grade you get and you can’t change it, so do you’re best the first time.
• You could get placed in a lower level then you actually are
Things that you can do to prepare for the MSA:
Get a good nights sleep
Study what you need to make sure you know what you are being tested on
Eat a healthy breakfast
RELAX
Good luck!
